The Ozark Mountain Daredevils established a unique sound in 1972 that brought the spirit of the Ozarks to the world stage with songs like “If You Wanna Get To Heaven” and “Jackie Blue”. Over the subsequent 50+ years their legacy has been solidified through their fusion of country, rock, and folk.
While The Ozark Mountain Daredevils have traveled relentlessly, the band has never abandoned their Missouri roots, consistently creating opportunities to maintain connection to the region that has inspired so much of their storytelling through song.
The Ozark Mountain Daredevils return to the stage of the historic Gillioz Theatre on October 8, 2027 after an absence of over a decade. The group has been integral in the life of the theatre, performing in the yet-to-be restored space during a decade-long renovation. They have returned multiple times, and joke that they are the “Gillioz House Band”, a title the venue would gladly acknowledge.
The return marks a reunion on more than one level, as the date reunites another legendary regional act with special guest Big Smith assuming opening duties.
Big Smith has played intermittently over the last decade and this performance touts a return to the original lineup that started the hillbilly phenomenon in 1996. The two bands have performed together numerous times over the years, including on the Gillioz stage.
