For one night only, The Mystery Hour is back at the historic Gillioz Theatre for a big big show. Springfield’s homegrown late night talk returns to their old stomping grounds for The Mystery Hour Holiday Spectacular. “Since we took the show off of TV, we’ve been doing an improvised version of it in more intimate venues around town,” explained host, Jeff Houghton. “We’ve also done a holiday show the last couple of years, and after last year’s show we thought, ‘It feels like this belongs back at the Gillioz.’”
As far as what to expect for a holiday spectacular version of The Mystery Hour, Houghton said, “We’re going to do it up big. People should expect the same nonsense, just with more tinsel and eggnog. Honestly though, we’d love to keep this going as an annual event to create a quirky warm & cozy night for the community during the holiday season.”
The combination of the sophisticated grandeur of the historic Gillioz, the warmth of the holidays, and the whatever-you-call what The Mystery Hour does can be your new holiday tradition.
The Mystery Hour aired for 10 seasons on various FOX, ABC, NBC, & CW affiliates across the country, broadcast from downtown Springfield. During the ten seasons on television, the show won 4 Emmy awards from the Mid-America chapter, and a Webby nomination.
