The Library Foundation Presents: An Evening with David Sedaris

David Sedaris is one of America’s preeminent humor writers. He is a master of satire and one of today’s most observant writers. Beloved for his personal essays and short stories, David Sedaris is the author of the New York Times bestsellers Barrel Fever, Holidays on IceNakedMe Talk Pretty One DayDress Your Family in Corduroy and DenimWhen You Are Engulfed in FlamesLet’s Explore Diabetes with Owls, and Calypso. There are over 16 million copies of his books in print and they have been translated into 32 languages. He has been awarded the Terry Southern Prize for Humor, Thurber Prize for American Humor, Jonathan Swift International Literature Prize for Satire and Humor, Time 2001 Humorist of the Year Award, as well as the Medal for Spoken Language from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
 
Proceeds from this event benefit The Springfield-Greene County Library Foundation, helping the Library to build a thriving community of lifelong learners since 1993.
 
Here are some things to keep in mind:
  • Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Be ready to present your ticket or e-ticket.
  • No concessions will be sold.
  • Books will be available for purchase before and after the event. Cash, check or credit card accepted.
  • David Sedaris will sign books before and after the event. He will sign purchased books and those you bring from home.
  • At 7 p.m. Mr. Sedaris will deliver a one-hour reading, followed by a 20-30 minutes of audience Q&A.
  • He will return to the lobby after the event and sign books as long as people are in line.
  • No photography or video recording is permitted at any time in the book signing line and during the performance.

The Historic Gillioz Theatre was built in 1926. Balcony seating is closer together than Orchestra seating. If you or a member of your party is tall or require more leg room, we advise purchasing Orchestra level seating.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO ELEVATOR ACCESS TO THE BALCONY SEATING AREA.

There is NO outside food or drink permitted in the theatre.
